Do you drink apple cider vinegar? You may have heard of its health benefits online.

What is it exactly?

Apple cider vinegar, as its name implies, is a type of vinegar made from cider and apples. It has a pale-medium amber color and is usually used in salad dressings, marinades, vinaigrette, food preservatives, and chutneys.

The mixture is made when apples are crushed and the liquid is squeezed out. Afterwards, bacteria and yeast are added to the mixture to begin the fermentation process. During the second phase of fermentation, the alcohol is converted into vinegar by adding an acid-forming bacteria.

It may generally sound unappealing, but it has long been used to cure ailments.

According to Authority Nutrition, it can kill off many types of bacteria, lower blood sugar levels, fight diabetes, lower cholesterol, and even prevent the risk of heart disease.

However, Healthy Daily states that the mixture should always be used with caution as it is “highly acidic” and reportedly caused damage to the enamel found in teeth

The source did reveal that apple cider vinegar could potentially fight off the following ailments:
