Last February, the first division of the Comelec decided to dismiss all of the disqualification cases that were filed against Rodrigo Duterte. But now, there are two petitioners who are making an appeal for reconsideration for the First division with their decision of dismissing the cases.
When the Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista was asked about the pending disqualification cases of Duterte this is what he said, “We will study that, but of course, we know that we also have to respect the mandate given to him by the people," he said.
If ever the cases will be brushed off now that Duterte is the leading candidate on the presidential elections, “That (case) has been raffled to a ponente. I guess we (the Commission en banc) need to discuss what to do,” he said.
