As much as we try to be overly protective of our kids, some diseases are just hard to combat. One of them is this Hand-Foot-and-Mouth-Disease which is quickly spreading due to its nature. The disease is highly contagious and can be quickly transmitted through contact with saliva or mucus.

Although it is not life-threatening, it is characterized by flu-symptoms like fever, sore throats and red itchy sores in the hands, feet and mouth. They can be present at other body areas as well.

It clears up within two weeks but since it is highly contagious, experts around the world advise that you quarantine yourself to fully get the virus out of your system and lessen the spread of the disease.

Also make sure to visit your doctor as this HFMD can have serious complications like weakened immune system, or worse, brain infections like meningitis or encephalitis.

But remember, prevention is always better than cure. Make sure to practice hygiene and frequent washing of hands to keep the virus out. Drink plenty of fluids and get enough sleep to strengthen immune system.
