Urban areas are known to be polluted by different vehicles, industrial activities and so many more. Because of this, people living in urban areas are more prone to lung cancer compared to those who live in rural areas.
A major factor that can cause lung cancer is the air that everyone breathes. The more it is polluted, the more it can endanger one's life. Aside from the air in urban areas which contains toxic chemicals, another factor is the altitude or commonly known as the sea level. Air in lowlands is much more thicker which means, it is rich with oxygen. This makes it more dangerous.
Though oxygen is a very important element for our body, oxygen can create free radicals which are carcinogenic- this can damage the DNA of an organism which in time, mutate our cells. If not given attention, it can cause cancer build up in our lungs.
Researchers found out that 1000 meters of altitude above sea level can decrease the chances of acquiring lung cancer in a number of people.
